THE STATUS: By 2050 more than 70% of the global population will live in cities. How do we plan, design and manage cities that can cope with things like resource scarcity and increased waste, while tackling emissions and climate challenges?

THE RE•ALIZATION: Cities are an invitation for innovation and co-creation.  Through re•thinking the processes, new solutions can be co-created with people and not only for them.

To truly develop social value we must re•engage with one another to re•make future scenarios for our global community.

THE CITY IS A LIVING LAB

THE EXPERIENCE: As Re•thinker, you will join a cohort of international and Brazilian peers to connect directly with community organizations to co-create new solutions.

Through immersive hands-on interactions and re•imagined

processes your cohort will be called to re•think scenarios to promote 3 sustainable objectives (as defined by the United Nations Sustainable Development Goals) quality education, sustainable city planning, and responsible consumption.

You should expect: a lot of interaction with the local community, exposure to the City, and challenging work

What we promise you:

  • to promote responsible projects that support and complement our community partners;

  • to share authentic cultural experiences;

  • to share new ideas and re•think processes and approaches with you patterns;

  • to promote multiculturalism and diverse perspectives

we cannot solve our problems with the same thinking

we used when we created them

TARGETS

The Lab will work towards promoting 3 Sustainable Development Goals as defined by the United Nations.

  • Quality Education.  Our challenge to connect schools and universities with the Cityexpanding the learning space beyond institution walls.  We will collaborate with learning initiatives that address the movement of unschooling, active education, democratic education, and edu-communication.  We will explore and develop how can we apply co-creation to knowledge acquisition.

  • Sustainable Cities and Communities. Our challenge is to think of ways to stimulate the occupation of public space by the people, motivating more interaction between them and their everyday routine turning squares and streets into meeting points.  We will work alongside organizations promoting these objectives.

  • Responsible Consumption and Production. Our challenge is to inspire sustainable consumption by rethinking societally-driven habits.  We will engage with local organic producers, product exchange concepts and lifestyle incubators to re•think methods of production, circulation, and consumption; gaining space and acceptance in the City.

EMPOWER YOURSELF

Your voice and the ability to work in teams will be essential throughout this experience. REMAKE.SP is a collaborative project. While working on each challenge, you will be instigated to actively engage in the co-creation process and take responsibility to share knowledge and add personal contributions. By the end of the project you will be able to see the impact of your choices in the solution progress!

THE METHODOLOGY

To achieve our objectives we will combine a number of creative strategies to engage multiple processes.  The constructive methodology will guide dialogues and interactions supporting the targets and fostering beneficial relationships amongst the cohort, the mentors, the advocates and the communities.

COST

With RE•IMAGINE.SP, you will connect directly with organizations, NGOs, community leaders, and entrepreneurs, all of whom are working tirelessly to support their local communities.  These individuals and organizations have limited financial means.  Therefore there is a cost associated to offset the costs of accommodation, transportation, logistics and mentorship, in order to integrate you into the daily runnings of these community projects.  While it may seem strange to pay to work, without you — this program and those organizations would miss important innovative ideas that can improve their reality and contribute to an equitable, sustainable city.
